24″ Black Dometic Refrigerator Side Vent

Description

The Dometic 3316941.005 is the OEM replacement sidewall vent assembly for Dometic RV refrigerators. This complete assembly includes both the access door and mounting frame, finished in black to match RVs with dark exteriors. The recessed grid design accepts paint or vinyl striping, allowing you to customize the appearance to match your RV’s color scheme.

This vent (3316941.005) replaces the discontinued Dometic 3109350.065. The new door will NOT fit in the old trim frame because the clip locations have changed (now on TOP instead of bottom).

When upgrading from the old style: You must remove the entire old frame and install the new frame included with this assembly. The good news: the new vent fits into the existing wall cutout without any cutting required.

RV absorption refrigerators work differently than household compressor models. They use heat to drive a chemical cooling cycle involving ammonia, water, and hydrogen. This process generates significant heat that must be expelled from behind the refrigerator for efficient operation.

Your RV refrigerator uses two vents working together:

• Lower Vent: Allows cool outside air to enter and flow across the condenser coils
• Upper Vent: Exhausts hot air rising from the cooling unit through natural convection

When vents are damaged, blocked, or missing, heat builds up behind the refrigerator. This forces the cooling unit to work harder, reduces efficiency, increases propane consumption, and can lead to premature cooling unit failure – a repair that often exceeds $1,000.
